Athletic facilities on Western's campus include Sam Carver Gymnasium, an artificial-surface football and soccer practice field, a six-lane all-weather rubberized track, Viking Softball Complex, and five multi-purpose practice fields.
Carver Gym, completed in 1962, has five basketball courts, including a main gym which holds 3,100 spectators. It also has a swimming pool, four handball courts, a strength and fitness center, and convertible facilities for volleyball.
Track meets are held at Bellingham's Civic Stadium. The stadium, built in 1961, with an addition in 1971 and a major renovation in 2006, has covered seating for 4,000 spectators and lights for night use. The track is an eight-lane, 400-meter oval.
Softball contests are held on campus but other sports have their competition off-campus. Men's and Women's soccer matches are played at Whatcom Community College's Orca Field. Rowing events are held on Lake Samish, with the boathouse located at Lakewood on Lake Whatcom. Cross country competition is conducted at Lake Padden Park. Golf matches are held at Bellingham Golf & Country Club.
