WWU has seven GNAC at-large academic all-stars

BELLINGHAM, Wash. - Western Washington University placed seven student-athletes, six women's rowers and one men's golfer, on the Great Northwest Athletic Conference at-large academic all-star team announced today.

Leading the Vikings were sophomore rowers Audrey Coon (So., Kenai, AK/Kenai Central) and Gina Auriemma (So., Lake Forest Park/Shorecrest). Coon is a Spanish/elementary education major maintaining a 3.93 grade point average (4.0 scale), and Auriemma is a communications major with a 3.92 GPA.

Completing the half-dozen WWU rowers are Samantha Marikis (Jr., Republic), a physical education major with a 3.39 GPA; Robin Fitzpatrick (Jr., Mukilteo/Kamiak), a special education/elementary education major with a 3.25 GPA; Amelia Whitcomb (Jr., Spokane/Ferris), an environmental science major with a 3.30 GPA, and Julia Munger (So., Palmer, AK/Colony), an environmental science major with a 3.21 GPA.

The men's golfer named to the team was Sean Packer (Jr., Sumner, WA/Auburn-Riverside), who is a business administration and marketing major with a 3.41 GPA.

To be eligible for the GNAC academic all-star team, student-athletes must have a minimum GPA of 3.20 and be in at least their second year of competition at their university.
