Great Northwest Athletic Conference men's indoor and outdoor track and field Coach of the Year in 2005 and league's cross country Coach of the Year in 2006 ... Under his guidance, 52 Vikings have earned All-America honors in track and 15 in cross country ... Also has had 23 Academic All-Americans in track and 19 in cross country ... His teams have had seven Top 10 national meet finishes in cross country and two in track ... In 2003, his men's cross country team placed 13th in school's first appearance at NCAA Division II National Championships ... Directed women's cross country team to fourth place at NAIA National Championships in 1992 and women's track squad to eighth place at nationals in 1997 ... Ten times named league Coach of the Year in track and twice district/region Coach of the Year ... Named conference, region and area Coach of the Year in cross country in 1995 and earned league and region honors in 1997 ... Assistant coach for eight years at Wayland Baptist University (TX) ... During tenure at WBU, Pioneers placed second three times in men's division and twice in women's division at NAIA National Outdoor meet, and won three men's titles (1985-87) and one women's crown (1986) at NAIA National Indoor meet ... Coached 43 NAIA All-Americans at WBU ... Obtained bachelor's degree in 1981 and master's degree in 1985, both at WBU ... Went to Moscow, Russia, during summer of 1983 to study track & field techniques in the Soviet Union ... He and wife Maria, who was NAIA national champion javelin thrower at Wayland Baptist TX, have two daughters, Sarah 6 and Laura 4.
