Myhre and Houplin each win two events at Moonlight Qualifier

Seattle, Wash. - Two Western Washington athletes - Kevin Myhre (Sr., Edmonds/Meadowdale) in the men's 60 hurdles (9.15) and 400 (52.62) and Joana Houplin (Fr., Olympia) in the women's 50 (8.05) and 200 (26.60) - won two events each Thursday night in the Moonlight Qualifer hosted by Seattle University at the Dempsey Indoor.

Teona Golding of Seattle Pacific posted an automatic qualifying mark in the high jump. Golding jumped a career-best 5-9 1/4, missing the GNAC record by just one-quarter of an inch.

SPU's Monica Anderson posted a provisional national qualifying mark in the pole vault with a third-place effort of 11-6 1/4.

In addition to Golding, three other GNAC female athletes posted conference season-best marks including Michelle Howe (Fr., Lakewood) of Western in the 60 meter hurdles (9.38); Britany Aanstad of SPU in the long jump (17-2 1/4) and Megan Paulsen (Fr., Bellevue/Bellevue Christian) of Western in the triple jump (36-7).

Howe equaled the previous best of 9.38 by Jacque Postlewait of Western Oregon; Paulsen improved her previous GNAC season-best mark by four inches.

Daniel Sullivan of Seattle University in the 60 meters (7.14) and Andrew Matschiner of Seattle Pacific in the shot put (49-5 1/2) moved to the top of the GNAC season chart in their events.

Matschiner's shot put and Paulsen's triple jump marks both rank fifth in GNAC Indoor history.
