BELLINGHAM, Wash. -
Seven repeaters are among 11 Western Washington University student-athletes named to the Great Northwest Athletic Conference Track and Field Academic All-Star Team announced today.
Three Vikings were honored for the third straight year. They are heptahlete LeAnne Evans (Sr., Steilacoom), who is a recreation major maintaining a 3.43 grade point average (4.0 scale); pole vaulter Scott Romney (Sr., Gig Harbor), who is majoring in computer science with a 3.62 GPA; and distance runner Beth Rosapepe (Sr., Port Orchard/South Kitsap), who is a linguistics major with a 3.62 GPA.
Western had four other repeaters. They were sprinter Paul Danforth (Jr., Kent/Kennedy), who is an English major with a 3.82 GPA; heptathlete Jackie McCall (Jr., Spokane/Medical Lake), who is a recreation major with a 3.33 GPA; shot putter David Rogiers (Jr., Tacoma/Washington), who is an accounting major with a 3.62 GPA; and discus thrower Jessica Telleria (Jr., Boise, ID/Capital), who is a biochemistry major with a 3.77 GPA.
Rounding out the Viking academic standouts are sprinter Kara Fischer (So., East Wenatchee/Eastmont), who is a communications sciences and disorders major with a 3.25 GPA; distance runner Kristin Haas (Jr., Port Orchard/South Kitsap), who is a social studies major with a 3.38 GPA; pole vaulter Hunter Verner (Jr., Brentwood, TN), who is a French major with a 3.34 GPA; and discus thrower Rob White (Sr., Woodinville), who is a biology/anthropology major with a 3.81 GPA.
Telleria was the discus champion at the GNAC Outdoor Championships for the third straight year, and Verner took the pole vault title at both the indoor and outdoor league meets.
To be eligible for GNAC academic all-star honors, student-athletes must have a minimum GPA of 3.20 and be in at least their second year of competition at their university. They must also qualify to compete in either the GNAC Indoor or Outdoor Championships.

112 Named To GNAC Academic Track-and-Field Team
SPOKANE - A total of 112 student-athletes - 38 men and 74 women - have been named to the 2005 Great Northwest Athletic Conference Track and Field Academic all-conference team.
Two of the women have perfect 4.00 grade point averages during their academic careers at their respective institutions - Lindy Mullen of Central Washington and Katelynn Blume of Saint Martin's. Among the male academic all-stars, Tim Keller of Northwest Nazarene and Andrew Lybarger of Seattle University have the highest GPAs with 3.99 and 3.96 averages, respectively.
Western Oregon placed the most athletes on the men's academic team with nine. Central Washington earned 17 spots on the women's team, while Seattle Pacific placed 16 on the academic squad.
To be eligible for the academic team, student-athletes must have a minimum grade point average of 3.20 and be in at least their second year of competition at their university. They must also qualify to compete in either the GNAC Indoor or GNAC Outdoor track-and-field championship meet.
