BELLINGHAM, Wash. - Western Washington University placed two men - forwards Calin Schell and David Brittinen - on the Great Northwest Athletic Conference Basketball Academic All-Star Team.

Both were repeat selections.

Schell, a manufacturing engineering technology major, is maintaining a 3.67 grade point average (4.0 scale). A junior from Chelan, he is averaging 9.6 points on 55.6 percent field-goal shooting (99-of-178) and his team-high 7.6 rebound average ranks third in the conference. Schell is second among league leaders in offensive rebounds (69, 2.8 avg.).

Brittinen is a biology/anthropology major and has a 3.42 GPA. A senior from Hoquiam, he has averaged 5.2 points off the bench, hitting 75.0 percent (48-of-64) from the floor.

Western, 14-11 overall, closes out its season at home this week, entertaining Seattle Pacific on Thursday (7 p.m.) and Northwest Nazarene on Saturday (7 p.m.).
