BELLINGHAM, Wash. - Western Washington University guard Ira Graham has been named the Great Northwest Athletic Conference men's basketball co-Player of the Week for Nov. 18-24. Graham, a junior from Fontana, Calif., scored 66 points in three games, all wins, on 60 percent floor shooting (24-of-40) and had 10 rebounds, five steals and 11 assists and did not commit a turnover. He made 4-of-9 3-pointers and 14-of-16 free throws. The 6-foot-1 Graham was named Most Valuable Player of the 10th annual WWU/Chuck Randall Thanksgiving Classic last weekend as the Vikings posted wins over Northwest, 85-69, and Bloomfield NJ, 99-58. He scored a career-high 32 points in an 87-75 victory over Cal State Monterey Bay earlier in the week. In five games this season, Graham is averaging a team-leading 20.2 points on 53.7 percent field goal shooting (36-of-67). He also paces the squad in assists with a 3.8 average. Two weeks ago, Graham was an all-tourney choice at the Seattle Pacific Tip-Off Classic. Western (4-1), which has won its last four games, entertains Walla Walla College in a non-conference contest Saturday at 6 p.m. Graham shared the GNAC POW honor with Western Oregon guard Brad Krischevsky. |
