Box Score

CHICO, Calif. - For the third consecutive game, Western Washington University fell to a nationally ranked foe, losing 1-0 in overtime to Chico State in a non-conference men's soccer contest Wednesday afternoon at University Soccer Stadium.

Chico State, ranked No.20 in the latest National Soccer Coaches Association of America/NCAA Division II national poll, remained unbeaten at 3-0-0.

Western, which fell to 1-3-0, was beaten 2-0 at No.4 Sonoma State last Sunday after falling 2-1 to No.11 Cal State Dominguez Hills on Sept. 1.

A goal by Chico State freshman Nick Tedrow in the 19th minute of overtime ended the marathon. Evan Armstrong's header hit off Zac Crim's chest to Tedrow, who knocked it in from 18 yards for his first collegiate goal.

Following a scoreless first half, Chico State took a 1-0 lead in the 13th minute.

A punt by Chico State goalkeeper Michael Keohane took a high bounce and was headed by a Western defender over goalkeeper Cameron Copps-Tilley (Jr., Vancouver, Fort Vancouver) to Wildcat Benjamin Moukoko, who headed it in.

Western tied the game at 1-1 in the 69th minute. Defender Chris Jepson (Jr., Bellingham/Sehome) found the corner from in front of the goal after a Chico State defender muffed an attempt to clear the ball.

Chico State had a 21-15 shot advantage with the corner kicks tied at two. Copps-Tilley was credited with nine saves.

Crim has three goals and two assists already this season for Chico State.

The Vikings return home to face NAIA Warner Pacific College OR on Saturday (7 p.m.) at Orca Field on the Whatcom CC campus.
