BELLINGHAM, Wash. - Western Washington University's Kurt Hartmaier has been named Great Northwest Athletic Conference Track and Field Male Athlete of the Week for March 7-13.

Hartmaier, a senior from Woodinville (graduate of Redmond High School), won the 1,500 meters over a field of 21 runners with a time of 3:59.70. It is the best time by any GNAC runner this season.

Last fall, Hartmaier earned All-America honors in cross country by finishing 41st individually in helping Western place 13th in the team standings.
