Sept. 28, 2002
LACEY, Wash. - Western Washington University's Ashlee Vincent (So., Bellingham/Squalicum) took top honors individually in helping the Vikings finish second among seven teams in the women's division of the Saint Martin's College Open Cross Country Meet on Saturday at the SMC campus course. Vincent toured the 5-kilometer course in 18:26.05, 10 seconds in front of runner-up Kelly VandenEkart, an unattached runner, and four seconds off the course record. Western's Laura Trevellyan (Fr., Vashon) was fourth in 18:48.68.
"We had Ashlee hang back with Laura in the first half of the race," said Western coach Pee Wee Halsell.
