Tournament Information

The Western Washington University women's basketball team has been selected to compete in the inaugural Disney's Division II West Coast Tip Off Classic on Nov. 2-4 at the Anaheim Convention Center and Disneyland Resort in Anaheim, Calif.

The Vikings are slated to meet Augustana SD on Fri., Nov. 2, at 12 noon, Colorado Christian on Sat., Nov. 3, at 7:30 p.m. and UC San Diego on Sun., Nov. 4, at 1:30 p.m.

The champion of the round-robin tournament will be determined by won-loss record.

There also is a men's division with the field composed of Cal State San Bernardino, Kentucky Wesleyan, Metro State CO and Montana State Billings.

All-tournament teams and MVPs will be selected. The Swoosh youth basketball tournament presented by Disney will be conducted the same weekend at the Anaheim Sports Center and the youth will be "adopting" a collegiate team to support throughout the tournament.

Admission prices are $24 for the event, $10 each day, $5 per session, $5 for students/seniors daily and $2.50 for students/seniors per session.

The Anaheim Convention Center seats approximately 7,000. It hosts the Big West Division I championship and the NBA "D" league Anaheim Arsenal.

UC San Diego was 27-5 last season, winning the California Collegiate Athletic Association and West Regional titles and reaching the national semifinals at the Elite Eight. Augustana was 25-7 last year and ranked No.14 nationally, getting to the opening round at the North Central Regional, and Colorado Christian was 7-20.

Western returns four starters from last year's 18-10 team that lost to UC San Diego in the first round of the West Regional. The Vikings have made nine straight NCAA II national appearances.
