CHULA VISTA, Calif. - Katja Trygg (So., Bainbridge Island/Bainbridge) shot a 4-over par 76, helping the Western Washington University women's golf team to an easy dual match victory over Chico State University, 317 to 352, at The Auld Course on Sunday. The match took the place of what would normally be a practice round for both teams in preparation for the 20-team San Diego State University Lady Aztec Invitational Tournament on the same course Monday and Tuesday. Kelly White (Sr., Monroe)shot 78 for the Vikings and Candice Wagner (So., Milton/Fife) 79. Completing Western's scores were Katie Bender (Fr., Tacoma/Bellarmine) 84 and Sarah Cooper (Sr., Marysville/Archbishop Murphy) 87. "It was a good match for us today," said Western coach Dean Russell. "It gave us a chance to get to know the course as we prepare for a tremendously talented tourney. Hopefully, we can shoot the same score Monday." Chico State was led by Morgan Peterson and Amber Petruzelli, who shot 83 and 86, respectively. Completing the Wildcats' scores were Tracy Parkinson 91, Alicia Ambrofini 92 and Julie Elwood 96. |
