Western 16th in Golf World/NGCA Coaches' Poll

BELLINGHAM, Wash. - The Western Washington University women's golf team ranks No.16 in the latest Golf World/National Golf Coaches Association/NCAA Division II Top 25 Poll released today. Freshman Claire Rachor (Bellingham) is sixth individually among Golfstat NCAA II scoring leaders with a 74.3 average, and the Vikings rank 22nd in head-to-head competition. Rachor leads the nation in Par 5 scoring at 4.71. She is third in subpar strokes per round at 3.00 and 11th in Par 4 scoring at 4.24. Christa Goldie (Jr., Mukilteo/Kamiak) is tied for seventh in Par 3 scoring at 3.09, Katie Sharpe (Jr., Bellingham) is ninth in Par 5 scoring at 5.00 and Sophie Elstrott (So., Eugene, OR/South Eugene) is 23rd in Par 5 scoring at 5.08. As a team, Western is second in Par 5 scoring (5.07), tied for second in Par 3 scoring (3.19), third in subpar strokes per round (1.90), and sixth in Par 4 scoring (4.43). The Vikings won two of four tournaments during the fall portion of their schedule, placing no lower than fourth. Rachor had 1-2-3 finishes in medalist play in her last three tournaments. |
