April 30, 2003 BELLINGHAM, Wash. - Western Washington University outfielder Candace Adamo was honored for the second straight year, heading three Vikings named to the Great Northwest Athletic Conference academic all-star team. Also selected to the squad were shortstop Dani Deyette and third baseman Adrienne Moore. Adamo, a senior from Sammamish (graduate of Skyline High School), is a biology major with a cumulative grade point average of 3.48. Deyette, a junior from Olympia, also is a biology major and has a 3.20 GPA. Moore, a sophomore from Lake Forest Park (Shorecrest High graduate), is an art major with a 3.20 GPA. She is hitting .292 with a team-leading three home runs and 24 runs batted in. The Vikings, 22-20 overall and third in the GNAC standings at 12-8, are at Western Oregon for a league doubleheader today (2 p.m.) and host Seattle University on Saturday (2 p.m.) in a twinbill to close out their regular season. GREAT NORTHWEST ATHLETIC CONFERENCE Thirty-Six Named To Softball Academic Team ELLENSBURG - A total of 36 student-athletes have been named to the 2003 Great Northwest Athletic Conference Softball Academic all-conference team. Seattle University placed the most players on the all-star unit with 10. Saint Martin's earned nine spots on the academic all-star. Elissa Johnson, a pitcher-outfielder from Saint Martin's, heads up the academic squad with a perfect cumulative grade point average of 4.00. All letter winners who are in at least their second year of competition at their university and have a minimum cumulative grade point average of 3.20 are eligible to be selected to the team. 2003 GNAC Softball Academic All-Conference Team
