March 31, 2003 EDMONDS, Wash. - Dani Reid (Fr., Spokane/Central Kitsap) won the women's 100-meter hurdles and placed third in two other events, and Dustin Wilson (Fr., Silverdale/Central Kitsap) was a double-event winner in the men's division to lead Western Washington University at the Club Northwest Spring Break Open last Saturday at Edmonds District Stadium. Reid has a winning time of 16.17 in the hurdles, and was third in both the 100 (13.09) and 200 (27.15). Wilson placed first in both the 100 (11.25) and 110 hurdles (15.5). (P) Melissa Behrens (Jr., Redmond/Eastlake) also was victorious for Western in the women's 100 (12.78). Finishing second for the Vikings were Scott Romney (So., Gig Harbor) in the men's pole vault (15-0), Andrea Kreft (Fr., Lake Stevens) in the women's pole vault (10-6), and Lisa Pearl (So., Kenmore/Inglemoor) in the women's 1,500 (5:04.04). Third-place finishers for Western, besides Reid, were Amy Kruckeberg (Fr., Lake Stevens) in the women's high jump (5-1 3/4), Paul Danforth (Fr., Kent/Kennedy) in the men's long jump (20-6 1/4), Justin Brewer (So., Sammamish/Eastlake) in the men's javelin (176-0), Peter Allan (So., Bellevue/Interlake) in the men's high jump (6-3/4), Kurt Hartmaier (Jr., Woodinville/Redmond) in the men's 1,500 (4:02.89), and Kirsten Holt (Fr., Lakewood/Everett CC) in the women's 100 hurdles (16.30). Western hosts the 23rd annual Ralph Vernacchia Team meet Saturday (10 a.m.) at Bellingham's Civic Stadium. |
