BELLINGHAM, Wash. -- Western returns home to close out the 2007 season, already assured of at least a share of the Great Northwest Athletic Conference championship. The Vikings will face second-place Western Oregon on Thursday, before meeting Saint Martin's on Saturday.

One win would give Western the outright GNAC title, while two losses would allow Western Oregon an opportunity to earn a co-championship with a win Saturday at Central Washington. The Vikings won three straight GNAC crowns from 2001-2003.

Western Oregon

The Wolves have won 10 of their last 12, rebounding with three straight victories after dropping consecutive road matches at Northwest Nazarene and Seattle Pacific on Oct. 18 and 20, respectively. Western Oregon knocked off Western earlier this season, posting a 3-2 win at Monmouth on Sept. 8. The Vikings have an 18-12 advantage in the all-time series.

Outside hitters Stacey Bennett and Kayla Mainer spur the Wolves attack. Bennett ranks third in the GNAC with a .333 hitting percentage, while Mainer is fifth in kills per game at 4.02.

Saint Martin's

The Saints have won two straight matches and four of their last nine contests upping, their overall record to 4-22. The Vikings swept a Sept. 10 meeting at Lacey, Wash., and now hold a 38-5 series advantage over the Saints.

Outside hitter Shealun Campisi leads Saint Martin's in both kills (2.99 per game) and digs (3.02 per game). Setter Kanoe Kalalau keys the attack with 9.02 assists per game.

Net Points

* Senior libero Courtney Schneider remained sixth on the NCAA Division II career digs list, while upping her total to 2,472 in wins over Seattle Pacific and Northwest Nazarene. She is on pace to shatter the NCAA II career record for digs per game at 6.94. The Snohomish, Wash., native, is now averaging 7.66 digs per game, matching her own NCAA record pace for digs per game in a single year, set last season. (For more on Schneider refer to page two of this release).

* Junior middle blocker Angie Alvord leads the GNAC and ranks 14th nationally with 1.37 blocks per game. Alvord led the league with 1.34 blocks per game in 2006. She also ranks in the national top-50 in service aces (45th - 0.67) and hitting percentage (38th - .320).

* Junior Tiana Roma leads the conference in hitting percentage, converting her attacks at a .367 clip.

* Senior setter Katie Robinson has moved into the conference lead in assists per game with an averaging of 11.85.

* Western is 18-1 in matches decided in three or four games. The Vikings are 1-3 in five-game contests, losing those three matches by a combined seven points.

* Western has extended its winning streak to 14 matches, its longest since putting together a 24-match stretch in 2003. The Vikings have posted 10 sweeps in that span, winning 42 of a possible 46 games.

* The Vikings remain second in the NCAA Pacific Region rankings. The rankings are used to determine the six-team Pacific Region playoffs. Cal State San Bernardino is ranked first and projects as the likely tournament host.

* Western is 9-1 at home this season and is 74-7 on Haggen Court since 2000. The Vikings are 184-72 overall at home overall.
